The approach to Santeri’s paintings is aesthetically pleasing for their subtlety, clarity and beauty. The simple forms are striking, the result of the direct, unhesitating but delicate action of a spray that seems to caress the canvas. A closer look reveals the associations of more or less recognizable forms from an everyday environment, a union of objects and natural elements that one imagines surround the painter in his daily chores and define a way of life.

A bit haiku, a bit mantra, a bit hieroglyphic; the ensembles depicted produce some form of visual poetry. The relationships of seemingly unconnected elements generate a mysterious unity reminiscent of improvisation and jazz tempos. The free associations and the carefree graphic style invoke the casual drawings on napkins, the almost unconscious doodles made during a telephone conversation.

We can guess in the painter the ability to perceive beauty and capture its essence, the product of a mixture of patient attention, philosophical meditation and sentimental journey. The virtue of turning the most mundane into an object of contemplation and making poetry out of the most prosaic, based on deep listening and attentive observation: two meditative ways of inhabiting the environment.

Santeri’s work is a search for balance between the initiatory and spiritual transcendence of the alchemists, the unproductiveness of play, aesthetic minimalism and the punk attitude of ignorant style. An exercise in formal reduction and ordinary mysticism. Through his work the door is opened to an experience that is at once metaphysical, playful and irreverent. An invitation to be present and to the dissolution of the self in the face of the abyss of existence.

La aproximación a las pinturas de Santeri produce placer estético por su sutileza, claridad y belleza. Llaman la atención las formas simples, fruto de la acción directa, sin titubeos pero delicada, de un spray que parece acariciar el lienzo. Una observación más atenta se detiene en las asociaciones de formas más o menos reconocibles procedentes de un entorno cotidiano, unión de objetos y elementos naturales que una imagina rodean al pintor en sus quehaceres diarios y definen un estilo de vida.

Un poco haikus, un poco mantras, un poco jeroglíficos; los conjuntos representados producen alguna forma de poesía visual. Las relaciones de elementos aparentemente inconexos generan una unidad misteriosa que recuerda a la improvisación y a los tempos del jazz. Las asociaciones libres y el estilo gráfico despreocupado invocan a los dibujos casuales realizados en servilletas, a los garabatos casi inconscientes hechos durante una conversación telefónica.

Se adivina en el pintor la capacidad de percibir la belleza y capturar su esencia, producto de una mezcla de atención paciente, meditación filosófica y recorrido sentimental. La virtud de convertir en objeto de contemplación lo más mundano y hacer poesía de lo más prosaico, a partir de la escucha profunda y la observación atenta: dos maneras meditativas de habitar el entorno.

La obra de Santeri es una búsqueda del equilibrio entre la trascendencia iniciática y espiritual de los alquimistas, la improductividad del juego, el minimalismo estético y la actitud punk del estilo ignorante. Un ejercicio de reducción formal y misticismo ordinario. A través de su trabajo se abre la puerta a una experiencia que es a la vez metafísica, lúdica e irreverente. Una invitación a estar presente y a la disolución del yo frente al abismo de la existencia.
